"Seduction of Souls" by Patricia Gauthier is a suspenseful paranormal fantasy novel with two interwoven plot lines--past and present. The author skillfully tells the tale of two couples, lovers separated in time, but connected on a fundamental spiritual level.RayeAnn Trenton is everything the reader could want in a heroine. She's a smart, resourceful and clever woman, struggling to make a living as a journalist. She also possesses special extrasensory powers that play an essential role in the unfolding plot. When she inherits a haunted Victoria house from her aunt, her life becomes complicated quickly. Troubled by the spirit of Charity Meriwether, RayeAnn seeks out the assistance of Ryker Whitcombe, owner of a paranormal investigation company named, appropriately enough, Soul Searchers. RayeAnn and Ryker get off to a rough start but sparks fly and it quickly becomes clear they share a mutual attraction. Chemistry between the two is electric and their intimacy continues to deepen as they learn to trust one another.
Secondary characters are well developed. I especially liked RayeAnn's friend, Bryn. The story of star crossed lovers, Charity and Nathaniel, provides an additional romantic subplot as the story progresses. Heat levels were spicy but never explicit and more of the focus remains on the emotional rather than the physical aspects of the relationships.
There are Biblical references throughout the story, which are used to heighten the peril and as well as being part of the overall world-building. The author does a great job balancing internal versus external conflicts and keeps the story moving along at a good clip. I'd definitely recommend Seduction of Souls to anyone who enjoys paranormal fantasy with plenty of suspense and romance.

Patricia incorporated romance, intrigue, spirits that won't leave alone, then, you'll enjoy Seduction of Souls. A five star without question.
